Under Governor Josh Green’s leadership, Hawaiʻi has expanded reproductive rights and increased access to reproductive health care throughout the state. Governor Green has championed legislation expanding abortion access and implemented executive orders to protect providers and patients from out-of-state prosecution.
Among his first actions as Governor, Green signed Senate Bill 1 into law to protect reproductive freedoms and expand access. This law clarifies that Hawai'i will not interfere with or deny a pregnant person's right to an abortion, protects health care providers from legal action from within or outside of the state, protects patients from out of state prosecution, prohibits the disclosing of health information to other states, blocks subpoenas, and expands licensing for reproductive services.
As a physician and a Governor, I feel strongly about health care, including reproductive health care and a woman's right to make health care decisions that affect her.
