    Governor McKee signs legislation to expand Paid Family Leave in Rhode Island

    Governor Dan McKee was joined by bill sponsors and other local advocates for a ceremonial bill signing to mark the expansion of paid family leave in Rhode Island through the Temporary Caregiver Insurance program (TCI). The legislation will raise the Temporary Disability Insurance and TCI wage replacement rates from the current 60% to 70% starting in January 2027, followed by 75% in January 2028.

    “By expanding paid family leave, we are reinforcing the message that workers in Rhode Island should not have to choose between their paycheck and their family,” said Governor Dan McKee. “This expansion of the wage replacement rate helps us stay competitive and a national leader on this issue.”

    Governor Murphy Invests in Record Breaking Expansion to Reproductive Health Care

    At the end of June, Governor Murphy enacted New Jersey’s annual budget, which includes a $52.2 million investment in reproductive health programs (in addition to those covered by State-sponsored insurance programs). This includes record-breaking resources to deliver safety-net family planning services, upgrade family planning facilities, and grow the reproductive health care workforce. A new initiative aims to attract OB/GYNs and other reproductive health care professionals from other states, including through loan redemption for service in medically underserved communities.

    House Bill 4240, FY 2026 Appropriations

    In July 2025, Governor Healey signed H.B.4240 into law, which allocates funding for reproductive health services. This Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations package also provides: $6.7 million to enhance comprehensive family planning services previously funded by Title X ; $500,000 for a public service campaign to promote awareness about the right to receive a 12-month contraceptive supply; $150,000 for an abortion legal hotline ; and $1.98 million in grants to strengthen reproductive health access, infrastructure, and security.
