“As the nation marks four years since the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the 24 governors of Reproductive Freedom Alliance remain steadfast in their commitment to protecting and expanding reproductive freedom.
The Alliance was established in response to the Dobbs decision that upended nearly 50 years of federal constitutional protections for abortion rights, recognizing that states would play a critical role in safeguarding access to abortion and reproductive health care in a post-Roe landscape.
Since our founding, Alliance governors have taken action to support patients, protect providers, and expand access to reproductive health care. From defending access to medication abortion and extending state coverage of services, to enacting protections for patients and providers, our states have served as a critical firewall against efforts to roll back fundamental rights.
Four years later, it is clear that Dobbs did not simply return the issue to the states. Instead, we have seen continued efforts to restrict access to medication abortion, cut off funding to trusted providers, and interfere with patients’ ability to make their own health care decisions beyond state lines. As attacks on reproductive freedom have become increasingly coordinated and national in scope, the need for governors to work together to protect access to care has only grown more urgent.
As new threats continue to emerge, the Reproductive Freedom Alliance remain committed to ensuring that every person can make their own health care decisions free from political interference and that reproductive health care remains safe, legal, and accessible for all.”

About the Reproductive Freedom Alliance
The Reproductive Freedom Alliance (RFA) is a nonpartisan coalition of 23 governors working together to protect and expand reproductive freedom across the United States. By supporting state policy change, RFA has helped equip governors with the tools to protect and expand access to reproductive health care, defend the rights of patients and providers, and advance state policies to safeguard reproductive freedom. RFA is supported by GovAct, a nonpartisan nonprofit initiative that helps governors work across state lines to champion fundamental freedoms and improve people’s lives.
