Governor Ned Lamont has demonstrated a strong commitment to reproductive freedom and women’s health care rights in the state of Connecticut. During his tenure, Governor Lamont has signed legislation protecting access to contraception, supported Planned Parenthood, opposed anti-abortion laws, advocated for women's health, and protected funding for family planning services.
In 2019, Lamont signed into law a bill that requires insurance companies to cover a full range of contraceptive methods and services without cost-sharing. This reform ensures that all Connecticut residents have access to a wide range of contraceptive options, regardless of their income or insurance coverage.
Now more than ever, it is important for state elected officials across our country to stand by the residents we represent and enact laws that protect their rights to make their own reproductive decisions. Politicians should not get between a patient and their doctor. As long as I am governor, reproductive rights will be protected in Connecticut, and I will do everything in my power to block laws from being passed to restrict those rights.
